too outdated of a ship

Sail Date: July 14, 2016

Room Type: Oceanview

This was the 4th cruise taken on a Carnival ship, unfortunately it was on an outdated ship.

The staff was wonderful, but the food bars weren't able to handle the influx of people as quickly as needed.  The 24 hour pizza palace had people constantly waiting to just receive a slice of pizza.  Asking for a salad also was a waiting experience.  Again, this was the 4th on Carnival so it was totally unexpected to deal with this.

Not enough choices for vegetarians nor younger children.  Unfortunately, it seemed that the food was colder than expected, maybe it was because it was being prepared in advance of the bars opening.  Like the breakfast items were cold by the time the bar actually opened at 7am.

2 of the pools were being painted, serviced while we were on the cruise.  1 was down the embarkation day for a long period, then the other pool was down being repaired, painted etc on the at sea day.  That meant the water slide wasn't in use either until the pool was fixed.  This required too many small children using the hot tub pools instead.

Cabin / Stateroom
Our room was the smaller out of the 4 I booked, but for us (4th time) we didn't need anything larger. The bathrooms were dirty tile, but again it was an older ship. I did like the bathroom shower being able to accommodate the toiletries usually used while showering. Major plus.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Too chaotic for anyone not a little more experienced. Too cluttered trying to get off the ship when coming back to Port Canaveral/
Ship Quality
Outdated in our rooms, but the staff was constantly trying to keep it clean. Applause to all they did.
Destinations and Excursions
Awful ferry boat operators, limited knowledge of more than the jewelry type shops. We spent more time trying to reach other spots to see from the locals who couldn't give clear directions. We had wanted to see the pirate museum that was recommended by a waiter at one of the restaurants serving bahama food. We were told it was 2 blocks away from the restaurant in a pink building. Once you get off the ship, there is an abundance of pink buildings. Rude ferry boat operators that will tell you "it is bahama time, but yet tell you you are not in America anymore" Truly made me not want to spend any of my currency to support their economy.
Onboard Activities
Way too limited and the lido deck/promenade deck too small for the amount of people on the ship.
Children's Programs
Didn't actually offer enough choices on the at sea days, both the day of embarkation and the at sea day.
Really not enough for all ages.
Service and Staff
Our steward who was for all 4 of our rooms was absolutely wonderful.
Food and Dining
Very limited choices all around, and food was too dry. Example the fried chicken served on one day. Not enough choices for children and vegetarians. It would be nice to be offered at least in 1 of the bars the food local to the destinations. For example, some of the local bahama food when heading to Nassau.
Port Canaveral, Florida
I strongly recommend using off site parking. We were able to find a location within a 5 min drive to the terminal area, and we were dropped off at the door and they were waiting for us to return.
Nassau, Bahamas
Very hard to get the locals to tell you other spots to see other than the main attractions. Too many folks at the markets that will crowd you while just trying to walk around. Almost a fall hazard when you get off the boat and start walking around the town. We saw people sleeping under the booths at the Nassau Market, and since every booth is very close to the other very easy to step on someone and fall.

This is an older ship, even the staff will tell you that. Not the best one to judge all the Carnival line by.
