Review Summary
I would not recommend this cruise to anyone with children, regardless of their age. Babies, kids, teens,... There is nothing for them to do. Also, the pools are nasty so I wouldn't recommend swimming. We got in for a whole 2 minutes before we realized everyone is on top of each other and you cannot see thru the water. The mini golf was nice, small but realistically the only nice non adult only type area. Every time we tried to call room service guest service housekeeping etc, the line was busy. Every time we physically went to guest services the line was super long. The alcohol is over the top expensive and you have to purchase packages for soft drinks.. Are you kidding me? McDonald's used to sell them for a $1.. I doubt it's that expensive to include that into the price of the cruise.
We had a horrible time on the actual ship, we had a great time at the ports, despite the ridiculous prices of the excursions atleast it was a good time. The day at sea with a child was miserable and the only times we left our room were for meals, because even the glorious "camp carnival" which is a small room hidden in the corner of the ship... Which is just a dumping ground for parents who want to go get drunk. It's actually quite pathetic, don't bring your kids if your only intention is to drop them with strangers so you can get drunk.
Finally in addition to the ridiculous bill you get stuffed with at the end of the cruise, our account had upwards of $300 of miscellaneous charges that were not on our bill at the end of the cruise. I would ABSOLUTELY NOT recommend carnival to anyone I care about. It's like a floating motel 8 with like 6 bars and they will stiff you with charges for absolutely anything they can get away with.
Good luck if you choose carnival ...

They don't have a mini fridge so don't expect to bring anything you need to keep cold on your trip.
Ship Tip
If possible, do not get off the ship before checking your bank account and having them explain any undocumented charges!
