Was a good trip but a few bad things
Ok so overall it was a good trip. But there are some negative things about going with carnival.
First it was my first cruise and carnival caters to a certain level of clientele. That said, I was surprised that there was folks smoking grass on the ship and the crew did nothing about it. The smell was pervasive and eminated down the corridors on the 8th and 10th decks. I didnt expect that.
Next I booked excursions on the site thinking it was the right way to book them but carnival has an attitude about anybody who books an excursion with an outside entity (had no idea it was considered an outside entity) and carnival will tell you that if anything happens on your excursion they will not wait for you and the ship will leave you on an island - so beware they only wait for excursions booked thru carnival.
The internet was the most moronic and stupidest policy onboard, after nickle and diming everybody they will not give access to an email account unless you pay $16/day. I was just looking to confirm my flights and it was very annoying.
If you need to speak to someone in customer service, plan on standing in line for over an hour and the folks who work that desk (Ausra) werent pleasant and were terse and rude.
When I got on the ship, i stopped by the bar in the lobby only to be ignored by the bartender who had no sense of serving folks in the order they sat down and had an attitude like she didnt want to be there.
The waiter in the dining room was excellent (Alex) as well as the housekeeping folks (Wayan) who took care of our room - also excellent.
The female bartender in the stern near the pool was pleasant and nice and provided attentive service.
Food and Dining
Service and Staff
Buffet in the back of ship is better then the stations by the pool. Omelette station was better for breakfast then the stations near the pool. Deli station was good. Gratuities are rolled into every drink you buy. Carnival puts gratuities on your bill of $60 per person for room staff.
