The Carnival check in at MIA was not signed and we had no instructions to find it. Airport information staff sent us off on the train to the wrong place, we were redirected back to almost where we arrived, wasting over half an hour. Staterooms were fine as were the cabin staff. Atlantic Dining Room for dinner was excellent as were their staff and those at Guest Services and Excursion Sales. Electrical faults in the stateroom were reported but no action taken. Organisation of shore excursions was poor. On Grand Turk we were sent to the wrong bus and the bus driver/guide sorted the problem, taking us with him instead of the one we should have been on. The Half Moon Cay excursion, Nature and History Walk, was a joke. The main nature we saw was trees and bushes, three birds and a load of mosquitors. The guide was disinterested and performed her duties to the minimum. The walk started seriously late. From the time we met in the Atlantic Lounge to the start of the walk was nearly two hours, because the tender loading took so long. Carnival staff admitted that tender operations in Grand Cayman, where the tenders are independent, are much more efficient despite not being ticketed. Dinner in the Atlantic Dining Room was always very good and the staff there were excellent. Out of hours dining around the ship was scrappy with minimal choice and availability. The entertainment troupe in the Caribbean lounge were brilliant, but only performed on two evenings and alternative entertainment was minimal unless you like bingo or the casino. Overall a disappointment in comparison with smaller, European cruise lines.
