This was actually a last minute vacation for hubby and I. We booked the cruise 3 days before departure. We have never cruised before, so we weren't sure if we would like it or not. Well let me just say we both LOVE cruising.
First of all, the Carnival cruise CS is top notch. We had a little glitch in the casino and the casino mgr handled it very quickly and to our satisfaction. As for the ship, the Victory is showing a bit of wear, because of age. But there wasn't anything that wasn't spotlessly clean, I've never seen hotels that stayed this clean! We did notice the elevators ran a bit slowly, we were on the eighth floor, with most things going on either a floor or two above or below us, it was easier to just take the stairs. As for the entertainment, it wasn't extravagant but we enjoyed it. There was alot of talent scattered around the ship, in clubs, bars etc. all very good. There is always something happening. Our room was much bigger than we expected...we had a king size bed, a small sofa and plenty of storeage space. We also had a nice size balcony. Our room was on the very back of the ship, so our view was fantastic with no obstructions. Everything was great... but the bathroom!!! OMG its tiny. Seriously you can be using the toilet and wash your feet in the shower at the same time....LOL! But it served its purpose. The shore excursions were hit and miss. Our first stop was Ocho Rios in Jamaica. We did the VIP bamboo beach excursion. It was nothing like what was advertised and we would not recommend it. Our next stop was in Grand Cayman where we did the stringray cay and snorkeling excursion. This was EXCELLENT. Our tour team was very professional and knowledgeable. They gave everyone detailed instructions and were open to questions. I cannot say enough good things about them. We were so disappointed that our cruise was over so quickly. If you have a chance to go on a Carnival cruise...do it. It is not a wild party ship, there were passengers from 2 to 90 on this cruise and everyone looked like they were having a blast. My hubby and I are 60 and 52 and wish we had started cruising years ago. Before I forget, the food is plentiful, you will NEVER go hungry. But the food was nothing memorable, nothing bad just nothing to rave about. Other than the pizza...its made fresh and seriously it is some of the best pizza I've ever eaten. Next cruise is Alaska for us....

Don't be put off because it is an older ship. Its our first cruise and the experiences we had on this ship have made us into cruise lovers.
