Old Ship, but It's About The Ports

Sail Date: October 28, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Balcony

The adult comedy was surprisingly funny. So much so, I would have paid to see it. The mainstream shows were corny - mediocre choreography. Several areas of the boat smelled putrid. There were several leaks as well - a drip near the elevator and a pouring down of water overhead on the deck, both with no warning. The decor was over 10 years outdated. There was no full size pool and WAY too much smoking. The smoking was the most annoying thing of the whole week. As expected, many of the activities were hokey, but what are you going to do. This cruise is purely about the ports and they were well worth it. A mix of Carnival excursions and cab and private tours were well worth it. It was a little annoying if you didn't speak Spanish. All messages were duplicated for the Puerto Ricans and they also had their own events. Very advantageous if you were Spanish speaking.

Pros: Going to 6 islands, including Puerto Rico, in one trip

Cons: Run down ship, needed several updates

Recommends Carnival Victory? No.

Ship Quality
Smoking should have been more isolated as not to bother other passengers and children. No full-size pool. The ship need lots of updates. Several areas had leaks and mal-odorous smells.
Food and Dining
The usual hit or miss. Few good dessert items. Most were poor in taste.
Cabin / Stateroom
I had to ask to have the toilet seat changed in the two cabins that I booked. Both were scratched and didn't look sanitary.
Service and Staff
Some were friendly, some were not. Some of the servers at breakfast did not seem interested in serving.
Entertainment
Most main shows were corny. Comedy was good.
