Disappointed with Carnival Victory

Sail Date: August 01, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

Maintenance is poor. See comments below. The ship is dated and doesn't appear to have been refurbished since built 12 years ago.

Pros: Comedy shows. Ports of call.

Cons: Broken drawers and sliding doors. Loud children. Poor quality food.

Recommends Carnival Victory? No.

Ship Quality
This ship is poorly laid out. Elevators to the dining room are inadequate and there is no access except the elevators or using the stairs. There is no way around the galley on deck three. Can't walk around Promenade Deck for exercise like on every other ship we've sailed.
Food and Dining
The steak one night was so grisly it was not edible. The dinner choices were very limited compared to other cruises-even other Carnival cruises-we have been on.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had a suite; two drawers would not close and a sliding door to a closet was broken. We had to use a bandaid to hold the light switch closed because we couldn't get the door closed enough to engage the switch.
Service and Staff
The one highlight was the staff. All were friendly and helpful although our room steward \"ratted out\" my wife for not attending the safety drill. She has RA and we had traveled all day and part of the night to get to San Juan. She was physically unable to negotiate the stairs at that point. We have been on over 30 cruises so thought she could skip. I did go and filled her in. Had to go to a \"special\" meeting the next day but at least then she could use the elevators.
Entertainment
Comedy was good. End of cruise show was horrible.
