7 Night Southern Caribbean (San Juan Roundtrip) Sail Date: June 24, 2012 Ship: Carnival Victory Cabin Type: Oceanview Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 5 years ago
The ship itself was pretty nice. It was our first cruise, so we didn't really know what to expect, but we had a nice time overall. The food started out very good but declined in quality over the week. The shows didn't really appeal to us, and the incessant reminders about what was going on each day were annoying, but we enjoyed the comedy shows. The staff, while there may have been a slight language barrier at times, were generally very friendly and helpful.
Our biggest complaint was the constant emphasis on dancing/partying/drinking, but we also figured that would be the case after reading several reviews before sailing. In the end, we were able to find quiet spots to relax, read our books, and take in the soothing scenes of the Southern Caribbean.
If you enjoy dancing, partying, drinking, or any combination of the three, you'll enjoy the Carnival Victory. It definitely lived up to the "Fun Ship" name they advertised. If you're looking for a quiet, soothing experience while on the ship, you should probably look elsewhere.
