Take the Stairs
Carnival Victory Cruise Review to Caribbean - Bahamas
Sail Date: October 13, 2008
Ship: Carnival Victory
Cabin Type: Balcony
Traveled As: Family (older children)
Reviewed: 8 years ago
The ship reminded me of Las Vegas in miniature upon the water. That would be a glowing recommendation for some, but we're early-to-bed, early-to-rise type of people and hearing the cruise director announce activities over the loudspeaker in the hallway after 10pm and waking us up is not pleasant. Also, we were having a family vacation so we didn't attend any shows since some of them had R ratings. Some parts of the ship, also, seemed in need of repair as some of the decorative "windows" and "railings" were taped or marked and many of the elevators worked erratically. That's it for the negative.
The food was exceptional and the wait staff went above and beyond to serve and accomodate us. Since two of our family had food allergies to deal with, that's saying a lot. They learned our names, our tastes and what we could and couldn't eat. Raphael, Eric and Olga were absolutely amazing.
The classical music teas were delightful, too, and much more in line with our tastes. In fact, all of the musicians were top notch. We enjoyed the pool area and hot tubs, too. What sold us on this cruise was it left from a local port and we didn't have to fly there or have any before/after hotel stays.
Ports of Call
Don't Miss: Go to Ardastra Gardens and take the Segway ride
Don't Miss: kayaking through the mangroves
Pros: the excursions and the food
Cons: The kids' clubs were a little disorganized. Too many late night activities. Erratic elevators.
