A Surprisingly Delightful Experience

Sail Date: January 01, 2007

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Oceanview

We are long time cruisers. This was our second experience on Carnival the first was during spring break a 3 day cruise that was a disaster. We decided to give them another try and we are very happy we did.

Pros: The crew was incredibly pleasant and helpful

Cons: To many days at sea

Recommends Carnival Victory? Yes!

Food and Dining
Varied food menu in dining room, food was hot . The service a bit slow we had a 5:45pm dining time and often did not get our dinners until 7pm and were rushed for dessert near 8pm because the next seating was arriving. Waiting over 1 hour to recieve main course was very unfortunate and caused us to choose the buffet on 3 nights because of other activities we wanted to participate in.
Ship Quality
I have been on many other cruises and cruise lines and have never experienced a cleaner ship. In the am on my walks the crew was cleaningthe cleaning on the lido deck near the smoking bar area every am.
Cabin / Stateroom
Also a first for us was choosing overview over a veranda. The room was spacious with 3 large closets. The sitting area was an addition we did not expect and the bathroom had as much storage as ours at home.
Service and Staff
Witnessed many occasions of a crew member escorting a guest to their destination so they would not get lost. Our cabin steward overheard us talk about how much we enjoyed the towel animals and that we took pictures of them, so we had towel animal in the am and pm. He also showed us how to make a few so we could come home and impress our friends.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Spent nice day on the beach, very sad such a poor country and begging in the street not uncommon. People selling wares on beach also made it clear they had drugs too. Secruity on beach not sure why, ceertainly did not stop people from approaching you trying to sell drugs.
George Town, Grand Cayman
Greatly overpriced also recovering from previous years hurricane
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
Hit hard by hurricanes the previous year still not recovered. Rented a golf cart to drive into town. Don't bother proverty stricken and beggers everywhere.
