Cruise of a Lifetime

Sail Date: May 21, 2006

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Oceanview

The Carnival Victory was a "fun ship" in all aspects. From the second we stepped on in MIami until the minute we docked in Miami on our return we were well taken care of and comfortable. There were just the right amount of bars and lounges, chairs by the pool, air conditioned places and open air seating. Our stateroom was perfect and had just enough room for all four of us. The towel animals our our beds every night were a nice touch!

Pros: The ship was beautiful and clean, the waitstaff was amazing (as was the food) and the overall staff was wonderful.

Cons: No cons this was a great trip!

Ship Quality
Service and Staff
From the Entertainment staff to the store clerks everyone was friendly, neat, and enthusiastic to help.
Food and Dining
We had the friendliest waitstaff I have ever had on this cruise. There was great variety to the lunches and dinners. The breakfast buffet was the same everyday but had plenty of choices to last the week. 24 hour pizza and ice cream rounded out the always present food choices.
Cabin / Stateroom
For having four twenty-something girls packed in there for the week we were pleasantly surprised. The bed that pulled down from the ceiling was much more comfortable then excepted and the Stateroom Steward remembered to leave it down for us all day after our first request.
Entertainment
Our time not spent by the pool was full of comedians, singers, and magicians. I even participated in a line dancing lesson with one of the Victory Dancers!
Miami, Florida
If you can make it out a day early to stay an extra day after you get back we spent one night on South Beach and had a great time. Visit Wet Willie's on Ocean and 8th for some fun frosty alcoholic drinks and views of the beach.
Don't Miss: South Beach
George Town, Grand Cayman
This was the most beautiful and scenic stop on the cruise. We took the tour of Hell, the Turtle Farm, and swam with the stingrays. Definitely bring a water camera on this tour because no one from home will believe that you kissed a stringray if you don't have pictures to prove it!

Don't Miss: South Beach
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
I would skip the tours here and stick to the pretty pink pool bar where the boat drops you off. The area is not very developed and our tour here seemed more like a sales pitch for us to buy land there. The area where the ship drops off is beautiful and clean. The vendors are a little pushy but not obnoxious.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
The city here itself if a little scary and discouraging but Dunn River's Falls makes the trip here worthwhile. I would recommend taking the CoolRunnings party boat out to the falls. Free rum and punch after a long day of climbing the waterfall if amazing! Also Magherittaville is a must see.
Don't Miss: Cooling Running boat trip to the falls
