First Cruise, but not our last

Sail Date: September 06, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Inside

The Carnival Victory was an enormous vessel! After about three days we had the hang of getting from place to place. We didn't immediately know that you couldn't access all levels from every elevator bank, but we got around fine and had a great time, despite the hurricane that trailed behind us.

Pros: pay one price for everything

Cons: long line to clear security and board the vessel

Recommends Carnival Victory? Yes!

Ship Quality
all public areas were well maintained and very clean. Food was in plentiful supply at all hours of the day and night as long as you knew where to look.
Food and Dining
Food was fantastic. We chose to do plated dinner most nights and the service was wonderful. Meals were delivered in a timely fashion and very well presented (Temperature, color, variety).
Cabin / Stateroom
We had an inside stateroom, which while it looked small, actually worked out fine for two people. The only complaint was that when the overhead lights were out, the room was extremely dark at night. A night light would have been helpful, or perhaps putting the room lights on a dimmer switch to adjust the lighting.
Service and Staff
Everyone was helpful and friendly. Our cabin steward stopped by everyday to check on us to be sure that we were enjoying our cruise, and to see if there was anything she could do to enhance our experience. We had a towel animal every night also.
Food service people were friendly and conversational. Bar staff was a bit less friendly, but we didn't use those services much so it didn't make our experience less pleasant.
Entertainment was outstanding, there was so much to do such as bingo, dance classes, games, library hour, movies, casino, shopping, spa, mini golf, pool, water slide...just everything.
Entertainment
Boston, Massachusetts
cancelled due to hurricane hannah
Portland, Maine
Portland was lovely, there was time for a wander down the main street for shopping before taking a Highlights tour of the city.
