Terrific time!

Sail Date: April 08, 2007

Reviewed: 10 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

Newer ship, large stateroom ( called us with an upgrade, too!), third man in same room discounted some, food was excellent in the dining room and very good at the buffets.

Pros: Food and excursions were very good.

Cons: $38 plus another 15% gratuity for soda pop card for the week

Recommends Carnival Victory? Yes!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Loved the seafood newburg, filet, strip steak, cold fruit soup appetizers, shrimp cocktails every night, fresh baked bread continually, midnight buffets to die for!
Cabin / Stateroom
Came with beach towels daily, hairdryer, shampoo, body wash, razors, antacids, kids got cookies with the evening turndown service, as well as chocolates, and cute towel origami every night!
Service and Staff
Just keep your Fun Fountain drink card hidden when you're looking for a cocktail waiter -- they don't like to troll the theater aisles with the cards showing on the little cocktail tables, so flag them down to place your order and then produce the card.
Excellent programs and productions -- the best I've seen on 5 different cruise lines! Super comedians (3), a magician, family shows every night, terrific excursions at all price levels -- we did the River Tubing in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the Stingray City/Coral Gardens tour in Grand Cayman (best snorkeling world wide!), and Beach/Snorkle tour in Costa Maya Mexico (had both beginner and experienced groups!) -- which were all professionally manned (my son got stung by a jellyfish and they boogie boarded him to shore, mashed up the cure, slopped it on him, gave us free sodas, and we got lots of pictures of his war wounds!) and gave us more than the tour description every time!
Children's Programs
9 and 11 year olds loved the Camp Carnival programs and the slide (which has an attendant at the top and ends with a rubber foot stopper at the bottom and not in a deep pool!); 15 year old enjoyed the evening social interaction and was still in bed by 11 or 12 p.m. (her choice).
Miami, Florida
Taxi service from Ft. Lauderdale Airport to Port of Miami was $85 due mostly to busy Port traffic in a busy section of Miami, even on a Sunday.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
Shops don't open until 9:30 a.m. or so, so don't get off ship to shop before then even if you dock at 6 a.m. Loved the White River Tubing excursion which ended in a little village of shops and bar -- extremely wonderful and watchful staff on the tubes! Great souvenir shopping right at the end of pier.
George Town, Grand Cayman
THE best snorkeling! See Coral Gardens/Stingray City tour -- it's a blast! Get ashore on a tender boat, can be a little hot standing in sun waiting for one back to ship.
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
