Review summary

This was the first cruise my wife and I had been on alone since our son was born. Being that he has Austism we were afraid to take him when he was younger. When we finally got brave enough to take him he loved it. That was in 2018. If we had know back then what we know now he would have been Platinum ranking already and we would have been close to diamond but hey it's all good. We have 2 a year booked for then next 3 years already so we will have a great time enjoying Carnival!

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food at the main dining room was amazing. So much stuff to choose from and was very delicious! You can never go wrong with guys burgers. We had the buffets only a few times and they were good as well.

Redfrog Pub

5 out of 5

The fish bowls are the whole reason we went here and the foosball of course!

Pizza Pirate

5 out of 5

We had the pizza a few times and it was great. We will do the delivery side of it when our son is with us on the Glory in September this year.

Washington Dining Room

5 out of 5

The food was amazing and the staff worked their tails off to please everyone. They always deserve extra tips above the pre paid tips.

BlueIguana Cantina

5 out of 5

This place never let's us down. In the morning at ports the breakfast burrito hits the spot and the line is usually short.

Guy's Burger Joint

5 out of 5

One word MEAT!!!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Never got a chance to use the popls or hot tubs being that they didn't open until 9 am even though we were up early.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows were pretty good. The Cruise Director Kevin was amazing and had us excited the whole time. Sarah was amazing and always had the cruise rocking!

Carnival Seaside Theater

5 out of 5

Always a great time here.

Children's Programs

We didn't have our kids with us on this trip.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Elmer our room steward took very good care of us and always had ice ready for us! Ita, Regie and Julius was our wait staff and they were by far the best ones we have had on any of our cruises.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Although I have read many reviews about the ship being in bad shape I never experienced this. Yes the ship is older and not as glamorous as the new ships so they will never stand out as they do but as I see it the Valor was amazing. They were cleaning non stop and fixing problems as they popped up. People can always make an experience bad if they allow it to. Sure things will happen but don't let minor details ruin your time.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Elmer our room steward took very good care of us and always had ice ready for us! He had our cabin very clean each day. The cabin was very spacious and the bathroom. Was a lot bigger than your balcony, ocean view or interior room. The deck outside our suite had enough chairs for 4 people to sit at one time and plenty of room.

Ship tip

Spend a day exploring the Valor. This will get you around a lot easier the next several days. She has a lot of different things to see and do!

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
We love New Orleans and have a great time. Didn't do an excursion.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
As always Cozumel is great. They are always trying to sell you something in port which is their jobs. If you don't want to be bothered just keep walking. They will be asking the person behind you next. We did the Tabasco's Chef Maestro Cooking & Tasting. This was by far the best Excursions we have done so far in Cozumel. We will probably be doing it again.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

5 out of 5
We have always loved Progreso. It gets a bad rap and if more people would explore here they would like to as well. We did the Natural Pool, Wildlife, ruins, beach and lunch. The bus ride wasn't bad at all. Plenty of room and very comfortable. Our tour guide was amazing. Wish I could remember her name. The cenotes were very cool. It was amazing how the dirty water came through the mangroves and came out crystal clear. We also got to swim in them as well. We had seen the ruins once before and it never gets old. We got a indept history lesson about that area. Then we were off to the beach. The buffet was very good. We have read reviews about the food being horrible but this wasn't the case for us. We loved it. Would recommend doing this one as well.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Being we had a suite we were off the ship by 7:15. It was very smooth.

Traveler Photos
