This was a cheap cruise, so overall for the cost it was ok. I prefer a much larger ship. Also if you don’t like to feel the movement then you should avoid leaving out of the Mississippi! The embarkation and disembarkation was a nightmare. The activities were good and the Cruise Director and the fun squad were the only saving grace. The computers went down the night before disembarkation, causing a huge issue!
Embarkation

Horrible, the ship was late and we were hearded like cattle. Worst embarkation ever.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Dinning room was awesome! Buffet was ok, we have allergies in our group so we didn’t get to eat at the buffet often.
Onboard Activities

Pool, water slide, it was entirely too windy for mini golf
Entertainment

Awesome, the fun squad on board was phenomenal! TJ the cruise director and the fun squad made this cruise enjoyable.

Service and Staff

Our waiter was awesome. We had significant allergies in our group and he made sure that we were safe.
Ship Quality

The layout was weird. Had to walk through the smoke filled casino to get anywhere. Several of the Decks do not go all the way through so had to go up or down a floor to get places making it harder for those with a handicap. A number of the elevators were down creating long wait times.
Cabin / Stateroom

Very small room, lots of closet space. Wasn’t as clean as it should have been, dusty. Air not
Working well. There was food from a previous cruise on the wall...the ship moves from Galveston to NOLA so there was plenty of time to crusie. Our hot water didn’t work well.
Ship tip
Try to avoid the Washington dining room. It’s Aft and on decks 3/4 every meal was shaky
The free beaches were beautiful from a distance but very dirty up close and every 5 seconds someone was trying to sell you something. We only spent 2 hours before we went back to the ship.
The whole point of carrying your own luggage off is to get of the ship earlier. Instead we were not able to exit the ship until 1030 when our deck was called . It’s to anyone they start with 10,11, 12 then go to 1-8. So 8 is dead last even if you are carrying off your own luggage
It seems as if it is a larger ship? I've cruised on RC Independence and it was amazing, as well as NCL Breakaway. I will miss having the Dream in New Orleans port....she is an amazing ship! I also can't wait for the NCL Getaway to arrive in NOLA! I don't understand why you gave New Orleans a 3/5 rating being that the cruise line had you carry your luggage around for 4 hours! How did you like your visit to NOLA besides the carrying of your luggage?!
Sounds like you were on the nightmare delayed boarding trip -- that is not customary and I'm sure that make for a bad start. The Dream is sailing out of Galveston now - we were ready to try a bigger ship too! August!! 🎉🛳
I love to cruise. I just expect a certain level of service. I will try Carnival again only on a bigger ship. This was my first experience on Carnival and it was not a good first impression.
