Review summary

Overall, we enjoyed our cruise. Employees of the ship were attentive and very nice. Entertainment was great. Food was okay. Room was clean and room steward was fantastic. Ship needs a little updating, but everything was in good working order.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
This was an awful experience. The cruise was delayed, we had nowhere to park bc the proper parking garage for the ship was not open for us, had to park offsite, not knowing if we had a way to the ship, not knowing if our vehicle was safe. Then once we arrived to the ship after the 1.5 hour delay, we had to stand out in the scorching heat uncovered, for well over an hour. Babies were miserable and crying, it was a nightmare.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Years ago, when I cruised, the food quality was much better, especially at the buffet. Guy's burgers were good and the Deli was good, everything else was sub-par. The main thing I did not like at all about the ship was you could not reach Guest Services by phone. That is very annoying, when it's the middle of the night, and you have to get completely dressed to go all the way down to guest services, and still stand in a huge line for something that could've been answered in 1 minute over the phone.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There are many things offered onboard, but we didn't take advantage of any.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Stage shows were 10/10. Great entertainment, performers, and singers. Some of the stage shows approved for all audiences should not have been. There was some bumping and grinding dance moves not really appropriate for young children.

Children's Programs

My niece was 1 month away from 18, so she did not partake in any of the programs for children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, IDA, was awesome. He was super attentive, made sure our laundry was back same day, and kept our ice bucket full the entire trip. He was fantastic. I looked for him the last day to give him an extra tip, but never could find him. Next time, I'll give my tip the day before I leave, not wait until the day of.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
LAYOUT: Getting to our dining was a bit confusing, and we had to walk past the giant cloud of smoke (smoking area) every night to and from dinner. It was a bit nauseating. CLEANLINESS: The common areas were clean, as was our stateroom, and the dining areas. There were constantly workers even cleaning the buffet as you went through. WELL MAINTAINED: Everything was kept up as far as cleanliness. I think the ship could use a bit of updating.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
COMFORT: Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Steward changed our beds to twin, as requested, so it was easy to maneuver around. Ship rocks a bit more up front, so I would lean more toward getting toward the middle of the ship next time around. SIZE: Size of the room was adequate. CLEANLINESS: IDA and staff kept our room immaculate. I have NO COMPLAINTS as far as the cleanliness at all.

Ship tip

Book more toward mid/back of ship to be near dining areas.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

3 out of 5
Construction made getting to the ship and finding parking a nightmare. Other than that, no complaints.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Loved the port of Cozumel. Water is gorgeous. Went on Passion Island excursion (the shore excursion desk on the ship helped me book that at the last minute). We were so excited and pleased with that choice. Addie was an amazing tour guide, and the beach was quiet, relaxing and beautiful.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

4 out of 5
The port of Progreso is nothing to look at. It is a shipping port, so there's not a lot of attractive qualities about it like there is in Cozumel. We went on the Photo & Foodie sightseeing tour excursion. Priscilla and George were great tour guides. Very good info, entertaining, and George walked us through the bakery and explained what each thing was to us. The food was great, and we loved all of the beautiful things we saw. I would highly recommend this tour. We felt safe and comfortable the entire time.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was a breeze, nothing like the embarkation. The only thing that would've been better is for more elevators to be running and available.
