Great family vacation with teenagers

Sail Date: March 01, 2014

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Oceanview

The ship was very large with something to offer everyone in our family. Loved all of the islands\, but were most excited to get back on the ship! Very glad being first time cruisers not to have felt much movement\, EXTREMELY smooth.

Pros: All of the evening entertainment

Cons: Main course meals in the Washington

Recommends Carnival Valor? Yes!

Ship Quality
Surprisingly never felt overcrowded\, with so many people it just works out that there is enough to do for everyone to have enough space. Decor was fun\, elevators were quick.
Food and Dining
Convenience\, availability and quality of 24 hour pizza very impressive. Breakfast buffet and omelette station very good along with lunch buffets and late night options. Chocolate extravaganza was a favorite. Slightly disappointed with quality of meals in the Washington dining room. Taste was lacking with the exception of the baja fish.
Cabin / Stateroom
Extremely comfortable beds and bedding\, never slept better. Our family had 2 adjoining rooms which was the perfect amount of space. Very happy with rooms.
Service and Staff
Can't say enough about the staff!! King and Juan in the Washington dining room went above and beyond every night with riddles for our teenagers and 11 yr old along with all of their dancing and antics\, definitely our favorite part of the trip!! Sibi\, the magician spent many dinners performing card tricks for our boys\, while the boys showed him some of their own card tricks. When teenagers like adults this much\, you are doing something right!!!!! We will miss all of the entertainment staff who got all of the deck parties started\, they were awesome.
I was not expecting this to be as amazing as it was. We loved Dana\, the comedian who juggled. Comedians Tony and Jim were hilarious. Sibi\, the magician was fabulous and so personable. Break dancers were talented and funny and the Valor singers and dancers were superb. Bingo was fun and we really liked all of the dancing parties with the cruise team up on Lido deck and the dancing staff at the dinners!!! I would rate this portion worth the money we spent on the cruise all by itself. It was so fun!!!! Our teenagers dancing with King and Juan\, our servers at dinner\, was a sight to behold.
