Flew into San Juan two days before cruise to check it out. Used to bid on a place, should have paid more attention and gotten hotel in Old San Juan, did not, so we did a lot of walking. One day would have been enough, toured Bacaridi Rum and old town, good time. Cruise left 8:30pm Sunday night, so lots of shore time, next morning was St Thomas, then sea day, etc.
Great experience on Valor, food was wonderful, srevice was wonderful, ship has everything one would want. Lots of guests from South America, which creats a much different atmosphire than leaving from a mainline port in my experience.
Missed not stopping at Dominica, had a "boat ride from hell" on a non Carnival excursion in St Maarten, but one of the best cruises I have ever been on. To add to the enjoyment, we missed the snow and ice storm in Atlanta as well.
