It's Carnival.

Sail Date: April 01, 2012

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

A fun and enjoyable cruise but nothing really gave us a strong enough impression to cruise Carnival again. The price was right but we would have preferred a slightly classier aesthetic. If we cruise again (big if) it's going to be on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity.

Pros: Destinations were very nice. Staff was amazing. Great room.

Cons: Food, decor of ship.

Recommends Carnival Valor? No.

Ship Quality
Decor was gaudy and felt cheap -- like a big floating casino. Favorite part of the ship was the adults only section with big comfy hammocks. The whole ship would have benefited from a similar look. It was very clean though.
Cabin / Stateroom
Stateroom was very comfortable and had a great view from the balcony being on the 10th deck. Felt a little dated though.
Service and Staff
Staff was great. Awesome. Wonderful. Especially the room steward and the waitstaff for dinner. These guys were friendly and accommodating and were one of the best parts of the whole cruise.
Food and Dining
Definitely quantity over quality. Pizza place's quality declined over the coarse of the cruise. the last day the buffet was very mediocre. The dinners were fine if you didn't order from the everyday menu. We did not try the steak house though.
Entertainment
Since the weather was poor for most of the trip, we had to rely on the activities a little more than normal. There was a decent mix --a lot of trivia, but that's ok since we liked that. The pianist, Taylor, was very good as well as one of the ship's bands, "Music Reality." The evening shows were mediocre. The cruise entertainment staff was fantastic and so was the adults only comedy shows.
