Worst Experience Ever!!!!!

Sail Date: August 28, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

The ship was new and in great shape, that is the only good thing I can say about this trip. The customer service and experience could not have been worst. We were directed to park at the airport then charged for the shuttle, park at the port if you go with them. It took 90 minutes to board when we were registered as "VIP" passengers. The bottle of champagne we purchased in advance for the first night was never delivered and it took 3 days to get the charge reversed while they accused us of not ordering it, not paying for it and finally of not showing up the first night in the dining room to receive it. This is only a snipet of what you can axpect from the Valor. Good luck!

Pros: Ship was new and clean

Cons: Rude staff, poor customer service, poor behavior by other guests not addrerssed

Recommends Carnival Valor? No.

Food and Dining
To get a good meal you might consider the steak house at $30 per person. The food is mass produced and you can tell. Buffet lines are always long and the staff is over worked and unhappy.
Comedy club had great commedians but you had to get there 30 minutes before the first show and not leave between shows. Club was too small for the number of people on the ship.
Service and Staff
Even Guest Services treats you poorly. Entire crew stays onboard for more than 6 months and work every day. Over worked and treated poorly.
Ship Quality
Ship is in great shape and layout is OK except there were too many guests required to share the same space.
Cabin / Stateroom
Stateroom was great and the steward for our rooms was outstanding as well. We made sure to give him extra tip for his service. They hit you up for service charges regardless of the level you receive.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Should have had more time here. Walk the historic streets of ols San Juan and you feel the history. The people we met there were friendly and welcoming, nobody was pushy.
Don't Miss: Shopping is better than duty free in the other ports.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Typical Carribean Island with friendly people. Brace yourself for the agressive taxi drivers but you should go out to the beaches.
Don't Miss: Saphire beach, take snoreling gear.
Grand Turk Island
Great diving on a small island.
Don't Miss: Grand Turk Dive Company
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
Diverted to Nassau due to damage from Irene. Nassau was also in bad shape so this was a poor decision.
Don't Miss: Miss the port all together.
