The Valor has a muted decor of Americana/Patriotic themes so it is not as glitzy as other ships. We liked the different seating areas (indoors and out) and there always seemed to be seating available unless a big event was going on in one area. We got an inside stateroom to save money and it was very nice with plenty of room, including a good size bathroom.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Wonderful food with many choices, always clean and staff very efficient.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
It was fine, not fantastic. There was a lot of comedians, a magic/comedy show and the Valor dancers. Our favorites were the dancers (very professional) and a soul/Motown singer. Instead of the shows we would look on the schedule for the rock band and where they were playing. They were an excellent cover band.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The evening dining staff was great and the entertainment they provided was better than some of the scheduled entertainment! The called us by name after the first night and always remembered our preferred choices on drinks and sides. Our rooms were cleaned several times a day and the steward very nice.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Very clean, easy to get around, plain decor, good shopping.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Inside room was plenty big with good sized bathroom. It was very quiet at night.
It was pouring rain here--pouring! We had a private little beach area serviced by a chairlift. We just walked to the beach (easily) looked at the food and service available, headed back to the pier shopping and then went back. The rain soaked us but we did get good gifts at the craft bazaar and the people were very nice here.
We did not book a shore excursion but simply took a taxi to a resort beach area and went swimming in the ocean for a few hours. It was fantastic and the resort let us use the showers and beach rentals and restrooms. The cute town has fantastic shopping and food.
Since the port was built just for cruise ships we wanted to get away and walked 3 miles down to another port--just to see what it was like away from the pier. We went to the local Mega grocery--it was great!
