Great Thanksgiving cruise

Sail Date: November 21, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Inside

The ship was clean, decorated very nicely and spacious. It was a little difficult getting around with the galley in the middle of the 3-4 decks but we managed.

Pros: Spending time with our family

Cons: Commerialized

Recommends Carnival Valor? Yes!

Entertainment
This is my big complaint. It was Thanksgiving with about 1000 kids on board and yet they didn't seem to take that into consideration when planning the entertainment or daily activities. Most all was still geared toward adults. I compare this to my 1st Carnival cruise, on the same ship fleet 3 months prior. Mostly activities for 20-30 year olds.
Children's Programs
Again, with 1000 kids on board, there was little for them to do outside of the kids camp which apparently many didn't do all the time because there were a lot of kids out and about.
THe 4 hours my kids spent in Camp Carnival, they loved. The 4 year old got to play with a lot of toys and run around. The 8 year old got to hang and do things for her. The facilities were clean, new and well supervised.
Ship Quality
Very clean and well kept.
Food and Dining
We had a 6pm reservation each night which was perfect for a young family with grandparents. It gave us time to play in the morning and afternoon, take a little nap and get ready for dinner. A wide variety of food choices. Most food were somewhat familiar with a little twist which I enjoyed.
Cabin / Stateroom
We choose an inside stateroom for 2 adults and 2 children. It worked out great as we weren't in the room the often. They did an incredible job keeping our room made up, fresh towels, etc.
Service and Staff
Took the iniative to say hello. Our dinner head waiter was very personable, remembered our drink orders from night to night, asked questions and shared some about his life. He knew each of the food items and helped us a lot.
Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
I loved this because we docked at an older port and was able to see more of the natural and real Honduras. We went to a beach and relaxed.
