Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Oceanview

The layout of the ship made it difficult to get around. The dining rooms were set up on 3 levels blocking passage to the other side. No real pools, just wading pools and whirpool tubs (not heated). The internet/web room could only be accessed walking through a designated "smoking" lounge. The food was not very good.

Pros: Dining Staff, Cabin Attendants, Seaside Movies

Cons: Food, Entertainment, Activities

Recommends Carnival Valor? No.

Ship Quality
Hard to get around due to layout. Hard to locate public restroom areas, had to return to the room most of the time.
Food and Dining
Very disappointed in the food. We have always enjoyed the food on our other Carnival Cruises, but this was bad. We skipped dinner in the dining room several nights due to nothing on the menu that our party would eat. The food was either bland or was ruined by weird spices. Not very good selection. Desserts looked good, but didn't taste how they looked.
The worst ever. It seemed that the entertainmment & activity staff were very unorganized and were making stuff up as they went. The times listed for activities and food were wrong on the "Fun Times" (i.e. movie showed 10:45 pm but would not start until 11:10 pm, Breakfast would list till Noon for late risers, but when we arrived at 11am, no breakfast items to be found and all the food was shut down getting ready for lunch. We would wait in long food lines, only to have them shut it down in front of us and then have to go search for food somewhere else.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had an outside cabin. Very nice room and lots of storage.
Service and Staff
I would rate our cabin stewards the best on this ship. They were constantly cleaning our room and swaping out linens, more so than usual. We had very friendly dining staff, but they seemed overwhelmed and not attentive as much as other cruises we have been on (i.e. forgot to bring drinks, etc. or told us we had to wait until a certain time).
George Town, Grand Cayman
The vans we drove in for our excursion had fold down seats in the middle of the aisle..very uncomfortable for those sitting in them and it made it harder to get in and out of the van.
