Almost an Excellent Cruise

Sail Date: June 22, 2008

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Oceanview

A recent addition to the Carnival fleet, Valor's operations and facilities were excellent. The staff was excellent, with only a few exceptions. The decor was unusual (Heroes) but flowed well, in typical Carnival fashion. The Megatron TV at the pool was incredible (everybody should have one of these). The variety of bars, clubs and discos was good, and had a flavor for everybody's mood, all the time.

Pros: The food on Carnival ships continues to beat other cruise lines

Cons: The kids programs for 9-11 year olds is AWFUL

Recommends Carnival Valor? Yes!

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
Excellent, for watersports. A depressed island, but with friendly people
Don't Miss: Scuba, Learn to Scuba, and snorkelling are the best you're going to get in the Carribean.
Belize City, Belize
The dirtiest, not most depressed, of the islands. The city is filthy. The people were nice, though each trying to make a buck. The river tubing through the rainforest is excellent, though the wait-times were unnecessarily long due to lack of tubes.
Don't Miss: If you're scuba diving, go off-ship, and see Seasportbelize.com. $40 cheaper, and the best staff for diving of the three ports where we scuba'd.
George Town, Grand Cayman
Stingray city isn't what it used to be, but is a must see "once".
Don't Miss: Scuba diving and learn to scuba are the must-do's if you can.
Cozumel, Mexico
The most developed town after Georgetown, Grand Cayman. "Americanized". Friendly folks, but not quite as friendly as Belize or Roatan. More commercialized.
Don't Miss: Don't bother with the ruins. We didn't go but consistently heard "Not worth the money or time".
