Our BEST Vacation Ever!!

Sail Date: May 06, 2007

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

This was our first cruise and we sailed on the Carnival Valor with our 6 kids underage 15 to the Eastern Carribean. It was an excellent vacation. The kids are already begging us to do this again for our vacation next year! We loved all the food choices and the food was excellent, we hate we couldn't handle the midnight buffets! Our kids did though! They are now having cruise ship buffet withdrawal. My husband and I ate at the very nice Scarletts and the food and service there were impeccable as well as the surcharge being very reasonable, while our head waiter took care of our kids in the main dining room! Wow! We can't report much on the bars and casino etc as we did not go there. The activites every day on the ship were numerous and were fun and they had something for everyone. Our kids loved the activities for each of their ages.
We loved the peace and quiet when they were participating in them.
The water slide was magnificent and the kids even talked mom into sliding on it. I think it was their favorite thing besides the food. The shore excursions were wonderful and fun and well worth the extra we paid for them. The evening shows were awesome and we felt like we were out on the town every night. Last but not least, the staff on our ship went beyond themselves to make us comfortable and happy. Our dining team treated us like royalty and we enjoyed getting to know them. Dining every night was fun as our waiters, danced and sang for us and with us! It definitely was a fun ship. Our staterooms were very nice and had lots of storage space and our stewards were great. We felt like we were in a 5 star hotel. Our steward would leave towel creations at night on our beds to the delight of all of us and would leave mom and dad treats too! We laughed and danced and had fun on this vacation more than we had in years! I highly recommend this Carnival ship!

Pros: The variety of things to do on the ship

Cons: Kids did not like Salt water pools

Recommends Carnival Valor? Yes!

Nassau, Bahamas
We did the treasure hunt snorkling trip and it was very nice with a ferry ride and beach time and lunch included. Not much coral viewing on the snorkling and it would have been great if there were more treasure to find but they hid it scarcely and few. Since this is a great excursion if you have kids, more treasure would be good. The kids still liked it a whole lot and loved the snorkling. Also on this trip we got to see all the stingwrays though we didn't swim with them. That was neat.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
We did the Ultimate St. Thomas tour and it was good and leisurely. Learned some history about Pirates. Great if you have kids. Swimming pool, beach time and shopping time and tour and history time all in one. Loved it. We chose this because of the kids.
Don't Miss: If you like snorkling and want to see some incredible sealife. Take a good snorkling excursion. it is not to be missed.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten
We did the Divi Bay Excursion and it included beach time and lunch buffet with 2 drinks. It was a beautiful place. The only thing I did not like was the constant barage of vendors coming to sell you jewelry and other things.
