Carnival Valor Cruise Review to Caribbean - Western
Sail Date: March 04, 2007
Ship: Carnival Valor
Cabin Type: Inside
Traveled As: Couple

The ship was huge, and was exceptionally smooth even though we ran into rough waves. The food lines at the buffet were comparitively small (even though there were so many people on board) because they provided many lines. The shows were excellent. And even though it was March spring break, I didn't see anyone drunk or rowdy or noisy. The ship was very clean, the crew was attentive, polite, friendly, helpful
We had 2 problems with the ship. One was with the layout of the ship. Carnival plans their dining rooms on either side of the galley. So if you are at the dininng room at the end of the ship, and you want to go to another part of the ship on the same level, you need to go up or down....walk the length of the ship, then come back to the same level you started at. And sometimes you end up at the dining room, even if you don't want to go there, and have to find your way up around and over to get to where you want to go. Also many times we found it so hard to find a particular room, lounge, bar we were looking for, because of the layout of the ship.
The other problem we had was with the noisy speakers at the pool and in the show area. The band at the pool was great, but they blast it so loud that we had to go to another pool where there was no music. The shows were great, but again, they blast the sound, so that many times it was not as enjoyable as it could be. We are seniors, and it bothered us and our friends. But it didn't seem to bother others ...maybe younger people like things that loud!
But overall it was excellent and we'd take a Carnival cruise again.
Ports of Call
Pros: Food, shows, buffets, pools, cabin, esceptionally smooth ride even though seas were rough
Cons: Carnival ship layout, loud music by pool and in shows
