Disappointed with the Valor

Sail Date: December 17, 2006

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Balcony

I would not sail on this ship ever again. Miami embarkation was a nightmare (2.5 hour wait in line). Our food was mediocre, the deck was always so full there was no where to sit outside, and the debarkation was totally chaotic. Room service let us know each time it was over an hour wait and 2 times it never showed up at all. As a family of 5, we spent a lot of money on this cruise. We could of had such a nice time but it was worse than waiting for a ride at Disneyworld on the busiest day of the year. Lugging our baggage was not a good idea, which they make it sound like it is. (Much quicker they say!) NOT! We waited for the elevator for 39 minutes just to get off the ship. Then when we got to the main level to debark, it took another 2 hours in lines. Not good with 3 smaller children when there is no bathrooms or drinking available for that timespan.
Sorry but we were excited to leave!!

Pros: Cabin steward, waiters

Cons: embarkation/debarkation, food, lines for everything, shows

Recommends Carnival Valor? No.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Snorkel shore excursion was not good. No beach area, and little kids were not able to use the available masks as they were way too big for their faces. Waste of time and money when 3 of the 5 of us had to sit on the boat and wait since the equipment didn't work well.
Nassau, Bahamas
Took our own shore excursion with a island tour. We had a good tour.
Don't Miss: Atlantis hotel

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Dirty Island. Kind of disappointed it was a US territory and it was the dirtiest place we went.
Don't Miss: sapphire beach
