First and Last Cruise with Carnival

Sail Date: November 01, 2009

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

The food was below average and consistently cold. They would close the self-serve dining room earlier than they were supposed to on a regular basis. Room service was very poor. Room service either came very late (over a half hour after they said they would be there, over an hour wait for coffee?!?!) , or they didn't even come at all and the girl answering the phone was rude. The staff was not accommodating at all. When you asked for something more often than not they would tell you they could not do it. For example when we asked for balsamic vinaigrette we were told no because it was on the other end of the ship. Many of the amenities (like good seats to the shows, the gym and spa equipment) was unavailable to the guests because it was being used by the employees. I have cruised before and perhaps another company "spoiled" us so we were expecting better service. A positive was the room. It was a nice size and our stateroom attendant went above and beyond. The ship was very clean and that impressed me as well. However overall there were more negatives then positives. I will stick to the other companies I have traveled with in the past.

Pros: The cabin

Cons: Food and employee attitude

Recommends Carnival Valor? No.

Service and Staff
Ship Quality
Layout was very confusing. Many of the guests wandered around trying to get places. The floors did not all connect to each other and there wasn't anybody around to help.
Cabin / Stateroom
Stateroom was nice in size and very clean. However they don't tell you when you booking that we were above equipment so every time we docked the noise started around 5-6 am. The noise with a combination of the bed shaking was sure to wake you up and lasted a very long time.
