Great First Cruise experience

Sail Date: June 14, 2009

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The ship is modern, clean and pleasant. It's a large vessel and the deck guides are most helpful to learn your way around.

Pros: The simplicity of making all arrangements using Orbitz

Cons: Advertisement for $240 Sun & Sail dollars - read the fine print folks. It's not always applicable to your trip.

Recommends Carnival Valor? Yes!

Service and Staff
Ship Quality
Sometimes the layout of the ship is confusing. I'd recommend signs on decks that indicate which direction is Aft or Front of the ship as that is key in orientation of where you are but it isn't always easy to keep the ends straight. Public restrooms are not abundant.
Food and Dining
Good food. The main courses of fish were a bit bland. Either spice up the fish or the sauce. Really enjoyed the wait staff entertainment and the restaurant magician is very entertaining. Early dining is best. Desserts are wonderful.
Cabin / Stateroom
Nice room. I'll never cruise again and not have a balcony.
The nightly shows are high quality and very enjoyable.

We are scuba divers so spent our time under water viewing the fish in the area. The Valor tendered at this port and the process of getting off the ship was a bit longer than desired but overall with than many people it went smoothly.
Belize City, Belize
Scuba diving excursion was wonderful. The staff of the JR Boys boat are fantastic. We were so pleased we plan to visit Belize and JR Boys again in the future. Special note: These guys provide the special service of slipping your fins on for you just prior to wide stride entry.
Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
We took the Day at Tabyana Beach excursion. It was very HOT. The beach is wonderful, water beautiful and great day at the beach.
