We choose this cruise because of the itinerary: Grand Cayman, Isla Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. Key West replaced Cozumel which I understand but we didnt get to dock in Isla Roatan due to labor protest issues and the "safety of our people". Shore excursions and a $20 credit were applied to our account which does not compensate for the stress we have been through on our first cruise that was supposed to be excellent. We then circled the ocean between Honduras and Belize all night in which could have been plenty of time to replace the stop with another destination, instead they continued with the itinerary ignoring Honduras. Belize shore excursions were sold out by that time. Ironically, Key West was the most fun. The stateroom's location was right on top of the casino and we had to turn on the TV to a music channel and put a towel over the screen to drown out most of the noise. Sleep was interrupted and stressful. We feel they put us in this room due to our age group and realize they stereotype passengers. They also put us at a dining room table closest to the cigar room with others our age group (27-30)... A lot of non-smoking areas were not enforced and everywhere you went it smelled of smoke. Alcohol is expensive, pushed like crazy, and a 15% gratuity is added on everything-including chocolate covered strawberries purchased at a shop. The ship got about $250.00 worth of tips for the week including the $10.00 a day per person for service tips. Then they leave an envelope to tip extra. Wow. Never again. And I won't even get started about how crowded it was. I would recommend you fly to your destination and have time to actually relax and enjoy yourself instead of taking a cruise. Especially if your coming all the way from Alaska.

Once Isla Roatan was not docked, we tried to purchase a shore excursion for Belize. It seems like everyone else had the same idea because it was all sold out from horseback riding, snorkelling, to the adventure activities. Everything was sold out! We just ended up walking around the port and found some tour guide to take us into the city.

Already been to Key West. We did end up being able to book a snorkel here. Ate fried pickles and rented a road bike for the day. Ironically we had a blast here!

We walked to seven mile beach and back. Very Americanized island.

Pros: Food and staff.

Cons: Location of room, itinerary changed twice, and non-smoking areas not enforced.

Recommends Carnival Valor? No.
