good cruise

Sail Date: April 12, 2009

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The Valor is a very large ship and can hold 3500 people (that's how many guests not including staff on ship so we were told by the cruise director), so needless to say very many people on it and was somewhat difficult to get around with my 81 year old mom. Our room was a balcony, but over the disco, which starts about 9 pm til 3:30 am. We did not get much sleep. My husband complained and the hotel director did try his best to keep reverb and sound down. Helped a little bit, but Carnival did give us a discount on our next cruise, plus some off of this one. He did concede that cabins 6400,6398,etc., had problems with the sound and we suggested they need to let people know about the sound or use these as storage areas. Also, during the lifeboat training, they placed us (mom who uses walker, cousin who uses cane) in the lounge area, and said someone would come in to show us where we would go in such an emergency, well, no one came in, we assume we probably would drown! Two nights in a row, they had problems with the fire doors by the shops and elevators, they kept wanting to close. Aside from those things, food was very good, staff went out of their way to get to know our names (people who clean your rooms) and everyone was friendly and helpful. Husband really enjoyed the sedgeway/snorkel excursion in Cozumel.

Pros: balcony room

Cons: room over the disco
