Beautiful weather cruise in Carribbean!

Sail Date: March 09, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Suite

Beware of the time you will be traveling. We were unaware that college students could afford a cruise for Spring Break. They were totally obnoxious and rude.
The ship itself was beautifully maintained, the food wonderful and the staff excellent. However, Carnival "pushes" shopping for ports of call rather than letting travelers know more about the ports of call and we felt we missed a lot.

Pros: Courtesy of staff on Carnival!

Cons: Drunken college students on break!

Recommends Carnival Valor? Yes!

Entertainment
The two main musical shows were excellent in the evening. We felt a lack of activities that would interest "senior citizens" (we do not like BINGO!).
Ship Quality
The ship is large and you can expect a lot of walking when not able to get an elevator. But the ship is pristine for clenliness at all times.
Food and Dining
The food was wonderful and nicely presented. You have many choices of dining but we recommend breakfast and dinner in the main dining rooms.
Cabin / Stateroom
Again the stateroom reflected the whole ship in a pristine both inside the cabin as well as the private balcony. Just loved the comfortable bed!
Service and Staff
The ship staff went out of their way to help in all situations and kept a friendly attitude at all times.
Children's Programs
Grandchildren were most enthusiatic about "Camp Carnival" and looked forward to being with the other children. We commend the staff for their patience!
Nassau, Bahamas
When we left the ship we hired a taxi to show us around and it was an excellent trip and we felt it was well worth our money.
Don't Miss: The "Atlantis" Hotel for the Chuly glass and the aquarium!
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Made the "mistake" of taking taxi to "Meagan's Beach" while three other ships were in port - looked like Coney Island-not good. Would have preferred to have goin to Charlotte Amalie like 40 years ago.
Don't Miss: Charlotte Amalie
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Family made mistake of signing up for snorkling and hated it due to all the people who crowded one another.
Don't Miss: Not really sure.
