We sailed in May 2007, Eastern Caribbean. It says July because it didn't offer the May option. The ship was in excellent shape and the crew was very pleasent. We ate in main dining room every night and thought the food was prepared very well. The shows were very good but not great. The performers gave it their all and that is really all you can ask for. The ports of call were all good, but St. Maarten was definately our favorite. We did the tour with Bernard, and he showed us all of the island along with beach time.
It was so good that I'm going back in March,2008 on the Western side on this same boat.

Pros: Food

Cons: NONE

Recommends Carnival Valor? Yes!

Cabin / Stateroom
We had an inside room, but it was roomy enough for me and the wife. We have cruised with 4 people in the same type of room and it was manageable, but tight.
Ship Quality
The ship is layed out good, once you realize that deck 9 and 5 are the only ones that go from bow to the stern.
Food and Dining
We really enjoyed all the food. You can literally eat 24 hours a day.
Service and Staff
They all did a good job.
The shows were good.
