7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip) Sail Date: October 22, 2006 Ship: Carnival Valor Cabin Type: Inside Traveled As: Singles/Friends Reviewed: 10 years ago
The ship was beautiful. Over the top decorations in all the public areas. There were places to be with lots of people, and places to be alone. The staff were all friendly and we felt pamered and well taken care of the whole trip. Someone was always cleaning something - the ship was spotless. We had an interior room but got the same wonderful service and comforts as the more expensive rooms. The food was abundant and high quality. The servers recommendations in the formal dining room were always right on.
Food and Dining

Rosie's Buffet was wonderful. The burger/pizza/omelet bars were great. We ate in for formal dining room most every night. The upstairs wasn't as pretty as the downstairs part - no windows. However, the food was great. I learned it pays to listen to the servers - they know what is best each night.

We went to the evening entertainment in the main performance center most every night - enjoyed the "live" talent. We also enjoyed the One Small Step Disco. The music and dancing under the night sky on the lido deck was a highpoint - magical experience.

Everyone had a friendly greeting and a good knowledge of the ship - pointed us in the right direction, which came in handy many, many times - I think I must be dyslexic or something.

As I said - the ship was huge and I was usually headed the wrong way, but the staff were very helpful in pointing in the right direction. The decor was bright and cheery - adhered to the theme of valiant people. The whole ship was spotless.

We had an interior room on the 7th floor to the back of the ship. It was perfect for us. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows and bedding/towels were luxury. The staff were very attentive and the room was cleaned almost every time we left it. Always had fresh towels and ice in the bucket.
We took a taxi to Atlantis Resort, walked through the resort and spent our time on the beach right next to the resort. The water was clear and great for swimming and jet skiing, but not really a snorkelling type beach. Their were a million vendors set up near the ship selling local items for very reasonable prices.
We asked the cab director where to go for snorkelling and he pointed us to the right taxi. Just a short drive and we were at a great beach. We rented beach chairs and spent the whole day there. The little restaurant/bar had excellent burgers and the Carob beer hit the spot. Once again - our taxi driver met us right on time and got us back to the ship with no problems.
Took a cab to Coki Beach and Aquarium. This was WONDERFUL.. and very inexpensive. There are lockers you can rent on the Aquarium side. We put all our snorkel gear in a locker and went through the Aquarium in comfort. We ate lunch - a great chicken wrap - right by the shark exhibit. Then we gathered our gear and went the few feet to Coki beach. This is the best place to snorkel. We'd heard so much about Megan's Bay we wanted to see it so we cabbed over there at 3:00 in the afternoon. The beach was nearly deserted. Our cab driver promised to come for us at 5:00 and she was true to her word. She got us back to the ship with time to spare for a nice cold beer before boarded. We missed getting a Bushwhacker drink though - heard they were wonderful.
