Not bad, but I may not cruise again for a while.

Review summary

There were a lot of children on our ship and they were all over the place running around. Also, the ship was kind of large so at times it felt a little crowded. Overall I had a pretty ok experience and our dining room staff was amazing. Our Stateroom was not in the best place, even though we had an ocean-view. We heard constant banging especially at night... like metal on metal below. I would also not recommend going through a 3rd party. I would book directly with Carnival and not an airline, etc. The 3rd party booking made it challenging to get information from Carnival, they seemed to be out of the loop and not able to provide details and and answer questions we had before we set sail. the "fun ship"? debatable.

Quick process. We boarded quickly and everything went very smoothly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Plenty of food everywhere we turned. The food was pretty good and unlimited.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
No complaints. There was plenty to do. We sailed during a major NFL game and there was a huge celebration and watch party for guests. it was great.

Entertainment

No complaints. There was plenty to do. We sailed during a major NFL game and there was a huge celebration and watch party for guests. it was great.

Children's Programs

I had no children with me who would have made use of children's activities.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Layout was a little weird, especially when we realized that we had to use a special set of elevators to get to our dining room. The ship is also kind of dated.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Rooms are dated, but our room was a great size, staff attended to our room twice a day. Our location wasn't ideal. We felt a lot of the rocking and shaking and since we were at the bottom of the ship we heard a lot of the clanking/mechanical noise from below.

Ship tip

It is a dated ship, so not as aesthetically pleasing as some of the more modern ships.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

4 out of 5
We came in and out of NOLA. I would like to go back (without the cruise) just to spend more time there.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Beautiful place. My group of friends and I did a beach excursion that included transportation, open bar, tequila tasting, and an all you can eat buffet.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

5 out of 5
Beautiful place. My group of friends and I did a beach excursion at a phenomenal private resort that included transportation, open bar and an all you can eat buffet.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick process. Got off the boat early and quickly.

When is the makeover happening. Was told it would be done by June. Our cruise is June 10th.

This ship will soon become the Carnival Sunrise. Maybe you should revisit when it has had her makeover.😉
