Review summary

This was our first cruise so we really can’t compare it to anything. We had a great time and we will use Carnival for our next cruise. I wish there were better drink options. I do not drink alcohol but my spouse does. We did not take advantage of the drink package because we would both have to buy it.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
The actual embarkation was flawless but port parking left a lot to be desired.

Our steward Herman was awesome. He always greeted us by name and made sure we had everything we needed.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The ship did show a little age but overall it was clean and well maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was very nice, I only wish we could have controlled the a/c better

Ship tip

Be prepared to do a lot of walking.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

2 out of 5
The outside part of the port could have had some people from Carnival to help navigate to the actual check in

Cozumel, Mexico

Awesome Our excursion was awesome

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

4 out of 5
We did not do an excursion but we did shop at the port. The shop attendants were too pushy. We were shocked that the port seemed to be under construction. I think passengers should have been told ahead of time. We heard several comments about the condition of the actual docks

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
On board preparation was smooth. Going through the port was very rushed. Made me nervous.

What I've done past cruises since my two kids are over 21 and don't drink, but I do, is purchase the cruise bar card and add $400 to it which would be the cost of Cheers for an eight day cruise. That amount for me is sufficient since I only drink about three drinks per day on sea days and one during port days. I also use it for the coffee bar.
