Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was the best part of the cruise. The shower was just left me having a massage and the room and balcony was double the size. Spend the extra and be spoiled!

Ship tip

Book a suite and get priority on everything. Bypass all the lines.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
We absolutely love New Orleans. All the different shops including Cafe Demond. People are SO friendly.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
We booked a Three Reefs tour but, due to hurricane Nate hitting in 1 day, it got cancelled so we booked Salsa and Salsa tour. This Salsa tour is mainly for big drinkers and none of us drink alcohol. It was a waste of our time. Very boring.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

5 out of 5
We actually love the small port. We didn't get past the port of call at the docks. We visited all the shops there and they were exactly what we needed at good prices.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth and quick

Sweet of you to get your husband a suite :) Hey, if you can and want to, go for it!

LMG1988    7 years ago

Yes, always prepay, and tip extra... & to anyone we feel led to. I don't think I could ever remove tips. I have at a restaurant, but that is another story.

I prepay up front and still tip extra

That's good information to know. This is the 8th cruise for us and the first Suite. It was a surprise 70th for my husband and I wanted to make it extra special. I didn't know about having the mandatory tipping removed from guest services. I like tipping whomever I feel gave us good service. Thank you very much for the information.

Someday, we will get a suite, but it will have to wait a few years. Agree about pre-paying as much upfront as possible.

Not everyone can afford or even want a suite. I'm happy with a cabin with a balcony or an inside cabin. We have cruised 4 times and haven't had a suite yet. We have always prepaid gratuities except our last cruise. We had them removed at guest services. We gave our awesome room steward a much better tip than he would have gotten had we kept the prepaid gratuities on our bill. We each gave him $60, so he was very happy. Plus we tipped the servers who waited on us in some capacity as we went along, such as the servers at the steakhouse and the dining room, and at the bars when we got drinks on the Lido deck, etc.
