Review summary

The ship was great, Cozumel was great but shopping in Progreso (at the port) left us not wanting to return there. We are guests spending our hard earned money. A little respect goes a long way.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had an Ocean Suite with faster to the fun. Embarkment was quick and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Everything we ate and drank was delicious. My husband paid extra for the filet and he said it was the best filet he had ever had. We really enjoy eating in the dining room. Guys burgers and Blue Iguana are great too. We never had a chance to eat at the buffet.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There is so much to do and not enough time to do it all. Skip the presentations that offer something free and enjoy the other activities. We really enjoy activities on Lido and Bingo inside.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I can't really say much for the entertainment. We missed the actual Vegas type show and the last night was cancelled. We were really disappointed. We did enjoy family and adult comedy and the marriage game. Also check out the dive in movies. It's a nice change and feels like a drive in movie.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our service and staff were what we expected. If you have a problem, be sure to talk to your steward and not just call the front desk. The steward went above and beyond to take care of us.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was as clean as it could be considering the rotation it goes through. We walked miles a day on the ship. So be ready to walk.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had plenty of room and were very comfortable. It's convenient to several areas of the ship. We had a few issues but nothing major. Our safe quit working halfway through. We called for service but no one ever came. I called our room steward but he didn't answer. By this time, it wasn't worth the trouble. If we had asked when we saw our steward it would have been taken care of. So ask personally and don't expect the front desk to relay the message. This side of the ship isn't good to see the sunrise. We were eating at sunset. I have to say off all our cruises we enjoyed this cabin the most.

Ship tip

Remember the 5th floor runs the length of the ship.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

Food is great, streets and smells are not so great. For sure go to Jackson Square. It's the heart of the French Quarter.

Cozumel, Mexico

It poured rain. That didn't stop us from enjoying the port. I was disappointed in the silver prices. I couldn't find a decent silver bracelet under $150 (after haggling). I can find it cheaper here in the states. We did get a really nice morganite set.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

1 out of 5
This port is strictly for excursions. Don't buy if the price isn't posted. We learned the hard way. They started out at $65 then came down finally to $40 only to find it at another vendor for $25. We helped them wrap our purchase and bag it. After they completed our transaction, they asked for a tip. We only had large bills so we didn't give a tip. They started laughing, pointing and talking about us. The nerve to ask for a tip when they overpriced to begin with. This was the second big shop to the right after walking through the main modern big building. There are enough bad reviews without them adding to it by being rude. We realize it's our fault buying without checking other shops. We spent our hard earned money and a little respect is better than mocking we received.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Getting off the ship was quick and smooth. We carried our own luggage and didn't have a problem at all.

Next time, take the bus to the market by the beach. cheaper stuff and stop by the leather shop. There is a man who is from America and he will tell you if you ask who are good vendors and who to avoid. Nice restaurants there too.

so that makes it OK for them to laugh, point and mock us after we spent $100. next door the same items were $45. Our fault for not shopping around...not our fault they were rude
