Review summary

Getting on the cruise ship was a hassle. It was hot and the lines were long. Once on the ship we had no idea what we were supposed to do or where to go because our roomwasn't ready. We didn't get our luggage until that evening  and I wanted a shower after sweating so. Ince we eere settled and calm it was a wonderful experience. I find water soothing and being surrounded by it was very relaxing. The food was ok. I expected better. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The drinks were great.the ship was clean and the staff hard working. The entertainment was good in the evening. We didn't get to swim because the pools were to small and the hot tubs were to busy to even attempt. I would recommend this to a friend but I would like to sail at a different time of year.

Be careful! My family and I took a bus to downtown Progresso to look around. We decided to take a tour of the ruins. While waiting for the van someone was taking a video of my teenage neice and daughter. We reported the incident but it could have turned dangerous. The town itself didn't feel safe.

Sorry Shelley4 but you are not supposed to bring irons on the ship.  They do have a pressing service if you need it badly enough.  As for the luggage sometimes it comes fast, sometimes not.  However we have found that if you get on the ship too early your luggage shows up later (it ends up essentially on the bottom of the piles of luggage).

We tipped $20 the first night and $80 on the last day. We received excellent service.

Make sure you print documents. Always pack clothes in a back pack for that night. They have a laundry facility if you need to get wrinkles out or pack steam iron. Luggage on bigger ships takes longer than smaller ones. Tip the porters well, and most will take care of you. Always go to food deck. Most of the time though, rooms are ready.

I always get FTTF so we can get into our cabin. And yes, expect full ships in the summer or during holiday weeks.

Lol!!!! My first cruise was in October 2015. I spoke with many seasoned cruisers. NEVER sail in the summer because more people on the ship. Going out this October and October 2017. Sorry for the long lines and not being able to enjoy the pool.

My 1st cruise was a honeymoon cruise taken in July. Yes long lines, too many kids. I think the last night of the cruise someone pushed a button & let most if not all of the kids on the ship run amuck. We now go April & October lol.

karlee58, being your first time can be confusing. And yes definitely try different time of year. I did an August trip once to Caribbean, never again.

8 cruises, never a problem.

We were on Triumph the same week. Summer is always more crowded because the kids are out of school, which is why we were there. FTTF was totally worth it this time. Food in MDR was excellent and plentiful, while the buffet was more plentiful if less excellent. Late summer to early fall is the best time we have found.

As you sail more, you will learn what to do, and what not to do embarkation. It gets easier each time.

Yea, always kinda confusing when you first board. I always sail late fall. Lot less teens and young adults. Glad you had a great time

It isn't easy getting thousands of people herded onto a ship. Lines are expected and hot if sailing mid summer. A little research will tell you that the cabins or luggage isn't available until the afternoon. You get a drink, relax or explore the ship. I think the food considering how many people they feed 24/7. I'm glad it all turned out ok for you.
