This was the first cruise we have gone on with our kids. Our kids are 10 and 8 years old. We were so excited to take them as we had heard how fun cruises are for kids, with tons of great stuff for them to do. As we did our research the Carnival Triumph seemed to be a good fit. Lots of kids activities posted on their website. Our kids were so excited. We get on the ship and start walking around. Several of the kids activities were closed, Basketball Court, Arcade, no Zip Line, ect. We then went to the family opening party. It was fun with dancing and stuff. They talked about registering your kids for kids zone as the do tons of fun stuff with them. The next day we took them to the kids area. It was a beautiful day in the middle of the afternoon. They watched a movie in the kids area. REALLY??? we are on vacation it's 1:00pm and you are going to watch a movie??? My kids are very active and like to do stuff. Not watch a movie on a cruise ship. We thought well maybe it's just a fluke, Took them back that even for the night owl. They had a small dance party and then watched a movie. In a 4 day cruise we put them in the kids area 5 times 3 of those time they watched a movie. Aside from the kids area there was not much for them to do. They swam one day and did the water slide. The day after our excursion it was cold and windy so no swimming was going on and most of the kids stuff was shut down due to winds. There was NOTHING, for them to do on the boat that day. We were very frustrated as we spent a lot of money for a really fun vacation for them. The last night they did have a fun night in the kids area FINALLY, they did a dance party and made T-Shirts. I did not pay all this money to have not have stuff that was on the website and the minimal stuff they did have was shut down.
As for the adult part. The bartenders were very slow and rude in the Casino area. We found out on day 2 that this was the last sail the Triumph was having out of Galveston and then they were dry docking it to do some updates and the crew was going to get a break. Well it was very obvious as the days went on that the only thing they cared about was getting off the boat. The food was decent, the main dining room the food was good, we were a little disappointed that the menu wasn't changed up each night.
All in all we had fun with the friends we were with in the evening after our kids went to bed; however, since this was suppose to be a family vacation it was very frustrating and a big disappointment for my kids. Not sure I will ever do another cruise again. I for sure will not do another Carnival Cruise.
