Review summary
This was our first cruise and we were very disappointed. First of all we booked this cruise because we wanted to go to all of the ports which included Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. Grand Cayman got canceled which was devastating to us. Sounds dramatic I know, and this may have not been such a big deal if so many other things on this cruise would not have been so disappointing. When we got on the ship we couldn't believe how small the pools were. They were also set up to be the center of the the whole lido deck so if you swim, everyone watches. Weird! Then I got sick off of the food out of the buffet. It made for a miserable day and night. Also, we are early risers. This ship does not seem to like that. None of the hot tubs were ready in the morning to sit in and it was hard to find coffee because most of the machines were being cleaned or were just flat out of coffee They don't have any activities going on during the day and all their entertainment is at night which all seems to be at the same time. This was also when we scheduled our dinner so we missed parts and pieces of many shows and activities. We were bored out of our minds. So when our port got canceled you can see our misery of having to spend one more extra day on the ship. Also, we noticed the ship needed a lot of maintenance. The ceiling was leaking in many spots, the stairs had tripping hazards, and my husband said the public restrooms he used were a disaster (and my husband works construction and uses a lot of those portable toilets). Then to top things off we dealt with some of the poorest customer service people I have ever seen in my life. When we went to talk to them about moving or refunding our transport that we booked through carnival (the one that takes you to the airport after the cruise) the first guy had some of the worst people skills. No eye contact, kept looking away when we were talking and treated us like we were stupid. We asked to talk to his manager and he was almost as bad. He had no empathy or facial expression. I thought for a minute he couldn't understand us. He kept giving us his rehearsed lines that I'm sure he learned in training. We thought that since our cruise was so miserable that they would understand that we wanted to spend our last day in Galveston doing something fun since our flight didn't go out till 7pm that night. But no way. There was no budging them. Which I understand policy is policy, but come on, what is exactly the point of customer service? To treat customers like crap and make them miserable. So anyways, this cruise was not so good to say the least. We will never book with Carnival again and I honestly would not recommend them to anyone.

Ship tip
Stick to the dining room as much as possible. They change their menu daily and the food is wonderful. Don't be afraid to try new things and order multiple items. The servers are great.
