Carnival Triump

Sail Date: October 24, 2015

Reviewed: 1 year ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The staff on the ship were very pleasant and helpful.  We loved all of the ports we visited. The food in the dining room is good but the buffet is awful.  We ate there once during the 11 days.  The Triumph needs to be placed in dry dock and completely redone.  The interior is very dated and run down.  Don't think any ship has used pink vanities in their bathrooms in many years.  There's not much ventilation in the casino and bar area so the cigarette smoke is kind of overwhelming so we started referring to the area as "stinky town". We found other ways to get to the dining room so we didn't have to go through "stinky town".  We hired a cab on each of the islands and we were able to go and do what we wanted.

Cabin / Stateroom
Decor is very dated and worn. The entire ship needs to be but in dry dock and updated. It's long past it's prime.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Worst embarkation ever! We were packed in a room elbow to elbow for over 2 hours waiting to get on the ship. We arrived early to avoid this but it didn't matter. For some reason Carnival wouldn't allow anyone on board so we all had to stand and wait.
Ship Quality
Extremely worn and dated
Destinations and Excursions Loved the destinations but we didn't book any excursions through the cruise line
Onboard Activities
Children's Programs
Not sure since we didn't have children with us.
Service and Staff
Food and Dining
Rating is based on the buffet. It was very bland and boring, pretty much inedible. The dining room and the specialty locations were very good.

Guy's Burger Bar and the Burrito/Taco Bar are great options for breakfast and lunch.
