5 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip)
Sail Date: March 12, 2012
Ship: Carnival Triumph
Cabin Type: Inside
Traveled As: Couple

Carnival does a very nice job on their cruises. The Triumph is a little older ship but is very clean and easy to get around. Our stateroom was larger than we expected and very comfortable for 2 people. We cruised during Texas spring break so there were a lot of kids on board but it was fun.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Our waiters were great. We chose the open dining which takes a lot of pressure off of being at the dining room at a set time. We asked the hostess if we could have a corner booth at around 8:15 every night and they were very accommodating. Carnival has upgraded the food and the waiters would give us as many portions as we asked. We also went to sit down breakfast instead of buffet and that was great.

Shows were as expected. Timing was sometimes an issue but we made most of the shows we wanted to see.

Service and Staff

Everyone was very helpful.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This is an older ship but very well kept. Our room was great, the public areas were very clean and the decor while dated was nice. Only con is the smoking.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Room was larger than expected. While the decor is dated the room was very comfortable for 2. We had an inside stateroom on the deck 7. The room steward was also very helpful.

Pros: The ships staff was great, open dining was convenient and just the right number of days.

Cons: Ship is a little older and would like more time in the ports.
