We found the cruise to be a great value and very convenient if you live in Texas. I don't know where else we could have had a 5 night vacation of this quality for a comparable price. Our last cruise had been in 2010 with Disney out of Port Canaveral so that is the basis of most of my comparisons. From the perspective of a family with young children, the Disney cruise is superior but you pay for what you get. I thought the children's programs schedules were hard to decipher. It wasn't clear where the kids were supposed to go and when so it was hard to take advantage of. The quality of the food in the dining rooms was good but the buffet was average and they rationed out bacon at breakfast like it was gold. I think there policy of making you pay for Soda is strange and the attachment of gratuities to almost every shipboard purchase is a little annoying. Our cabin was nice but small and was perfectly adequate except for the lack of any climate control. The staff were all very nice, particularly your regular staff (room steward, assigned dining team). Don't expect any special treatment during open seating.

Food and Dining

Food in the dining rooms was good. The buffet was average and the alternative dining spots were fine. My kids loved the 24 hour ice-cream!

You get the feeling right away that the cruise prices are low so they can sell you lots of stuff when you get on board. The excursions were pricey and we ended up taking a local tour in Progresso that cost us 1/4 the ship price and took us to exactly the same places (we saw the other passengers at each location)

Children's Programs

I am rating them poor because we never used them because of the difficulty in figuring out when and where to take advantage of them.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff were very good. The room steward was great, remembered our names, and was very efficient. The wait staff at the dining rooms during open seating have little incentive to go out of their way to provide great service and that showed.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was generally clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The stateroom was small but adequate but lacked any climate control other than a damper to control the flow of air. The room steward was great!

Pros: Value, Convenience, Friendly Staff

Cons: Dining restrictions, expensive extras
