Ship: Carnival Triumph
Cabin Type: Suite

Nice ship, well appointed, well kept. Very smooth sailing -- hardly noticed when ship docked/undocked, minimal transition in getting "land legs" back.

Food and Dining

Only went to main dining room 3 times, as food there tasted "tired" and we were never able to get a table just for 2. Ultimately found food more appealing at Lido deck buffet, both in variety and freshness -- and desserts were consistently incredible! Although the Lido dining area became crowded and congested at peak times, we at least were able to find the kind of seating there that we preferred.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We prefer to just relax, and did not participate in the various activities, nor did we attend any of the shows. My wife did visit the gym on several occasions, and found it to be quite adequate and well equipped. TV options were disappointing, with far too many channels devoted to shipboard/Carnival subjects, and the $9 charge for demand movies was waaaaaay excessive. Was disappointed that there was no indoor movie theater onboard. We did very much enjoy the classical music of pianist Elisabeta.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was cheerful, accommodating, and capable.

Ship Quality

Layout at times confusing, appealing decor, good cleanliness.

Cabin / Stateroom

LOVED the stateroom. It was conveniently located, spacious, nicely decorated, very comfortable, and well-kept by the stewards.

Just walked around a bit -- aside from picking up some needed items from the CVS Pharmacy, we found nothing of real interest in Key West.
Don't Miss: Don't feel competent to comment.

Ship was diverted to Cozumel, Mexico due to Hurricane Irene, which was fine with us. Cozumel's a good shopping port, and we spent most of the day ashore picking up mementos for family, doing personal shopping. Had a light lunch at Fat Tuesday Bar, which was acceptable. Dodged raindrops all day, but had a good time.
Don't Miss: Although we enjoyed shopping around, nothing really stood out.

Again due to Hurricane Irene, ship was diverted to Progreso, Mexico, which has a 5-mile pier & not much to attract us -- so we chose to remain aboard.
Don't Miss: No comment.

Pros: The stateroom was fabulous

Cons: Main dining room food was disappointing, tasted

Recommends Carnival Triumph? Yes!
