Not as good as past Carnival cruises

Sail Date: August 15, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Balcony

The Triumph seemed more crowded and less clean than my previous 4 Carnival Cruises (Celebration 2003, Elation 2005, Destiny 2008, Conquest 2010). Also too many portrait studio sessions on Promenade deck which made the walkway very narrow and made the ship even more crowded. Longer lines for food than previous cruises. Less organized in terms of handling large crowds, be it for food at breakfast or lunch, Debarkation, shows, etc.

Pros: Consistently courteous staff and good food. Great way to relax.

Cons: The Triumph seemed more crowded and less clean than my previous 4 Carnival Cruises (Celebration 2003, Elation 2005, Destiny 2008, Conquest 2010). Also too many portrait studio sessions on Promenade deck which made the walkway very narrow and made the ship even more crowded.

Recommends Carnival Triumph? No.

Cabin / Stateroom
I had a aft large balcony stateroom. The floor of the balcony was about double the size of a normal balcony, but due to the shape of the ship the railing slanted inward which made the actual walkable space about 1.25 times the size. Often found food thrown from the 10th deck in our balcony in the morning.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico
Ok. Old city, not much to see. We went to the beach break at your leisure which was very good for kids as our 18 month old was with us. They have a kiddie pool and open bar which was good for everyone
Cozumel, Mexico
Passion Island was excellent! Excursion took us on a 40 minute catamaran ride to get there, which was fun in itself. The island was not crowded at all and one of the best beaches that I have been on.
Don't Miss: Passion Island
