7 Night Exotic Western Caribbean (New Orleans Roundtrip)
Sail Date: July 30, 2011
Ship: Carnival Triumph
Cabin Type: Balcony
Traveled As: Couple

We really enjoyed the trip. Need to have the same type of "hook" in the bathroom that are in the closets so the hangers can be hung up in the bathroom. Embarkation and disembarkation were easy and realtively painless as cruises go.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Paris dining room was great. Buffet lines were efficient and food was average quality as far as buffets go. Breakfast in the Paris dining room was terrific. Ordered a couple of morning in the cabin and it was there on time and what we ordered (exactly - we forgot to mark jelly both mornings).

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were ok, but a little cheesy at times. Magician had a couple of tricks we just couldn't figure out...which was really good.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
We didn't have any children along with us (left them behind with grandpa), but toured the faciities and noticed a lot of kids running around the ship at all hours. Our impression is that the programs are not as good as another cruise line that we've travelled on. But to be fair that one would be hard to beat since they pay a lot of attention to children's activities and specialize in them as a corporation (Disney).

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Never ran into anyone on the staff who did not have a smile and willing to respond to our hellos or good mornings.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is showing some wear, but overall in very good shape and fairly easy to get around once you get accustomed to the layout. Hint: you can cut through the London dining room to get access to the rear of the ship when there is no meal service going on.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a forward balcony cabin on deck 6. We really liked the location and the cabin was just the right size with enough storage for the two of us.

Had a good time on the Mexican Cuisine excursion. Beach at the resort could be very crowded, but wasn't on the day we were there. Seemed to be plenty of activities in the resort area.
3 out of 5
Had a great tour to the Xianthinum (? spelling) ruins. Bus ride was long, but going out was very informative. The lunch provided was good, but wasn't what we expected (didn't seem authentic)

Had a good time at the Pirates, Birds, and Monkeys excursion. The beach and pool at the park were small.

Pros: Spa, Chef's Table and Behind the Fun Tour

Cons: Ship layout somewhat confusing at first

Recommends Carnival Triumph? Yes!
