Carnival Triumph-St Thomas. Puerto Rico

Sail Date: August 25, 2007

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Inside

For the price this is an awesome family cruise. It is very family friendly with a good level of personalized service. Even though this is not the newest ship in the carnival fleet, the Triumph has been well maintained. The food is good although not spectacular but the service made up for it because it was not only good but it was for Carnival-Great. While this will never be a Radisson or Cunard, it was still a great cruise with two out of four stops that were great.(St. Thomas and Puerto Rico) It is dollar for dollar the best island cruise value we have had in a long while.

Pros: great family friendly cruise. We had the best cabin steward we have ever had! Our wait staff at dinner also did a great job

Cons: We did not like the stop in Grand Turk at all. It was a complete waste of time if you did not want to drink Margaritas

Recommends Carnival Triumph? Yes!

San Juan, Puerto Rico
shopping and national parks of course

Grand Turk Island
horrible!
Don't Miss: do not get off the ship unless you want to teach your children some tough third world lessons by visiting the downtown

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
Free snorkling was great here but nothing else to do besides this
Don't Miss: only activity really is the free snorkling and beach sunning

Great shopping here! Really this is the best place to shop in the islands. T-shirts are the cheapest here in the caribe. Also great deals on silver and larimer. Finally if you want cheap alcohol this is your stop. Go to K-mart. As the alcohol prices can not be beat. Where else can you find a $3 bottle of rum. The cigarette and alcohol limit here is four or five extra bottles per person age 21 and over. More bottles than you can carry home.
Don't Miss: alcohol purchases at K-mart
