Let me first say that this is was first cruise on Carnival, but my third cruise. I sailed the Eastern Carribean 3-15-03. The embarkation was a nightmare with long lines and people at the counter that did not know how to get things done efficently. The ship is like a maze -- you have to go either up or down to get anywhere. It is a beautiful ship, but too DARK. This put a damper on the attitude of many people. I was told that there would be a lot of things scheduled for you to do. This would be so, if you were one of the people the cruise director chose to be in everything. We did try to get involved with some of the Games, Win, Lose or Draw, for one, and it seemed that there was no place for it so it was held in the hallway just down from the Casino. The Crew Staff was virtually non-existent... When an event was to happen there would hardly ever be over one or two staff to run it and they could not get people envolved. Even after we complained for 3 days about our cabin steward, Carnival made it up to us with four drink tickets, sorry, we don't drink. There were always long lines to eat and the food was, at best, average. The dining room was so dark you could hardly read the menu. Our waiter was ok, but forgot many things and never knew our names. I sat in the South Beach Dining room and watched 15 people come by me, (who should have at least greeted me or something). Not one was smiling or even said anything... This was the same all over the ship.I was told there would be theme nights like 50's, country and Western, etc., but this never happened. There was nothing to do after the evening show but go to the Casino or wait 2 hours till the kids cleared from the nightclub and it opened up for adults at 11:00. One decent aspect of the cruise was some of the shows. Good, but they could tone the costumes down for a family cruise. Dancers don't have to wear thongs to be entertaining.Leaving the ship was worse than I could have ever imagined. There was no organization at all to it. Our luggage was still in the hallways at 9:15 and we were to disembark at 9:30. It took grabbing on officer and physically taking him up to our room to see that somebody had evidently missed 10 bags in the hallway... even then they ask me.... Could you not carry it off yourself....... I was totally shocked they even asked. These were my 2 largest suitcases. As I said, I have sailed RCI before and the difference was like black and white. For the additional Money, (not much), you can get a much better deal. Nice try, Carnival, but you better get on the stick or all you will ever get is the people who haven't seen what an enjoyable cruise can be....Extremely Disappointed
