Carnival Triumph rules!

Sail Date: August 03, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Balcony

Carnival cruise's Triumph definitely lives up to it's namesake! It's an older ship and will be drydocked and refurbished in September of '08, so my comments about it's odd layout may already be addressed. The crew is above par, easily the finest staff I've ever cruised with.

Pros: Very family friendly

Cons: ship layout odd, pools were salt water

Recommends Carnival Triumph? Yes!

Ship Quality
Hard to comment, since it's due for a refit, but the ship is maintained beauitifully.
Food and Dining
best dining staff ever! Overall the dining is slightly less sophisticated than one would find on a Royal Caribbean ship, but the friendly people on Triumph make every meal special.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our steward had the difficult job of maintaing a stateroom which was jammed with 5 people, he did everything efficiently and with a smile.
Service and Staff
Like I said, the best cruise ship staff you can find
Decent if not top shelf entertainment, pools are salt water (a little odd), but this might be changed during the refit.
Children's Programs
I think our 5 year old had the best time of all of us.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Beautiful island. Sapphire beach is lovely. the butterfly sanctuary and the sky ride are great. Shopping in St. Thomas is encouraged by US customs rules,
Don't Miss: Do the sky ride to Paradise Point. The view is breathtaking.
Grand Turk Island
The port area is overly commercial, but there are a lot of activities. Take advantage of them. Skip the "wave rider" thing, it's not worth it. The pool is somewhat raunchy for kids.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
Absolutely beautiful, quiet island. The finest beach we saw on our cruise.
Don't Miss: Spend the day at the beach, don't miss out.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Larger city, very beautiful. It's a drive, but the rainforest is lovely. We did the historic walking tour and had a great time.
Don't Miss: The butterfly shop, in old San Juan.
